These properties are among the most iconic in San Francisco, but what they also have in common is their owners are applying for dramatic cuts in their assessed values in a worrying sign for the city's fiscal health. At Chase Center, property owners are attempting to cut the city's assessed $1.48 billion value for the stadium by some 58% to $635 million.

One of every four residential property owners disputed the value of homes — as calculated for tax purposes — this year in Douglas County, and thousands of their properties' values have been lowered now that the county has finished processing the disputes. “It has been and will continue to be a tough deal for our citizens, as well as for our team,” said Toby Damisch, who heads the county's property valuation office.

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners proposed a property tax increase for homeowners at the end of July. The plan, put forth by the commissioners ahead of public comment sessions, was announced July 24, announcing a proposal of increasing property taxes by 12.8% over the rollback millage rate. The first two public comment sessions were held on Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
