Eighteen of the homes are missing from the tax rolls, according to the Lyons Township Assessor's office. In other cases, similar homes built next door to each other have far different property tax bills.

One of Jackson County's largest employers and a smaller company have announced investments at their facilities. During a meeting Monday night, the Seymour City Council approved statements of benefits and tax abatements for Valeo North America Inc. and O&K American Corp. Those came on 5-0 votes with councilmen Drew Storey and Chad Hubbard absent.

Worcester property owners are still going to see an increase in their taxes for 2023, despite Worcester City Councilors voting in favor of the lowest possible tax rate at their meeting Tuesday night. The council voted 7 to 4 for a residential tax rate of $14.34 per $1,000 of assessed value and a Commercial, Industrial, Personal Property Tax rate of $31.26 per $1,000.

Federal prosecutors on Tuesday released never-before-seen photos of three former St. Louis aldermen accepting bribes from a north St. Louis gas station owner-turned-undercover FBI informant. The dozen date-stamped photos, released as part of a sentencing memorandum for the three men, show Reed, Jeffrey Boyd and John Collins-Muhammad sitting across from Mohammad Almuttan at various times between May 2021 and March of this year.
