Cook County is far behind in assessing the homes in the Mason Pointe townhome development in La Grange. Eighteen of the homes are missing from the tax rolls, according to the Lyons Township Assessor's office. In other cases, similar homes built next door to each other have far different property tax bills.

Worcester property owners are still going to see an increase in their taxes for 2023, despite Worcester City Councilors voting in favor of the lowest possible tax rate at their meeting Tuesday night. The council voted 7 to 4 for a residential tax rate of $14.34 per $1,000 of assessed value and a Commercial, Industrial, Personal Property Tax rate of $31.26 per $1,000.
The City Council voted 8-4 Monday evening to raise the fiscal 2023 tax shift factor to 1.69, an increase from the current 1.68, as councilors displayed a range of opinions on how to apportion the burden between residential and commercial properties.
Court photos show St. Louis aldermen taking thousands in bribes
Federal prosecutors on Tuesday released never-before-seen photos of three former St. Louis aldermen accepting bribes from a north St. Louis gas station owner-turned-undercover FBI informant. The dozen date-stamped photos, released as part of a sentencing memorandum for the three men, show Reed, Jeffrey Boyd and John Collins-Muhammad sitting across from Mohammad Almuttan at various times between May 2021 and March of this year.
Fort Worth City Council approves 10-year tax abatement for a new manufacturing facility in Alliance
The Fort Worth City Council unanimously approved the execution of a 10-year tax abatement agreement with Beauty Manufacturing Solutions Corporation during their regular meeting Nov. 29 for the development of a 400,000-square-foot manufacturing facility located at 5650 Alliance Gateway Freeway in the Alliance area of Fort Worth.
