CALIFORNIA
LA County property values top $2 trillion

Property values in Los Angeles County rose by $97 billion, representing an increase of 4.85% compared to last year, and breaking the $2 trillion ceiling in net total value for the first time. County assessor Jeff Prang valuates the value of all taxable property in the county each year, as required by the State Constitution, which is then placed on a list, called the Assessment Roll.

Colorado CO2 Property Tax Challenge Booted From Federal Court

Non-operating owners of fractional interests in a Colorado carbon dioxide field can't pursue their challenge to a retroactive property tax hike in federal court, a US judge said. The Tax Injunction Act bars federal jurisdiction over the suit because it seeks to restrain the collection of state taxes, the US District Court for the District of Colorado ruled Wednesday.

Indiana Property Tax Cap’s One-Acre Limit Held Unconstitutional

Homeowners convinced the Indiana Tax Court that restricting a 1% property tax cap to only up to one acre of land is unconstitutional. The state constitution's one percent tax cap is meant for residential property, including curtilage, a term that doesn't imply a specific amount of acres, the Wednesday opinion said.
