Scaled-back property tax plan prompts special session speculation in Nebraska

Gov. Jim Pillen vowed to keep Nebraska lawmakers in Lincoln if they failed to cut property taxes 40% by the end of their regular session. “We are going to get to 40% if we have to have a session every day until Christmas,” he told Lincoln business leaders in February.

Pennsylvania Governor Certifies $900 Million Statewide Property Tax Relief

Governor Josh Shapiro's Administration has officially certified a record $900 million for statewide property tax relief through the Department of Education and local school districts. Secretary of the Budget Uri Monson has confirmed the sustainability of this amount for at least the next five years, as mandated by Act 1 of 2006, with local districts obligated to pass this funding on to taxpayers.

Hackers post Tarrant County property owners’ data from ransomware attack on dark web

Medusa, the hacking group responsible for the ransomware attack on the Tarrant Appraisal District, has published data on the dark web it obtained from the attack, TAD said Tuesday. “TAD is aware that the criminal group Medusa has illegally posted files they claimed to have obtained from the TAD network,” Chief Appraiser Joe Don Bobbitt said in a statement.


Recent years' sticker shock missing as tax appraisals hit McLennan County mailboxes

Spokane County assessors address concerns with the rise in property taxes

In 2017, Spokane County residents paid $562,961,631 in total property taxes. In 2024, that number jumped 52.8% to $860,250,730, leaving property owners confused about how their taxes could rise so much in such a short amount of time. According to Spokane County Deputy Assessor Joe Hollenback, the courts have a role to play.
