Smitha is a problem-solver and relishes the opportunity to partner with clients to get difficult, complex real estate projects and contested tax matters across the finish line. In the course of her twenty years of practice, her clients have included businesses, healthcare entities, landowners, governmental entities, nonprofit organizations and high-net-worth individuals. She frequently takes on an outside general counsel role in her client relationships, representing clients across a broad array of areas, including real estate law, taxation, eminent domain disputes, commercial leasing, acquisitions, zoning and land use.
Smitha has acted as counsel for several Wisconsin-based government entities, including the Village of Mount Pleasant, Racine County and Kenosha County, in matters related to development, eminent domain and tax disputes. In addition to her transactional practices, Smitha has notable trial experience and understands how to use litigation as a tool to achieve business goals. She has handled matters—including jury trials—in state and federal courts and oral arguments in front of the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
