Indiana farmland tax formula changes

Indiana farmland owners will see smaller increases in their property tax bills next year, thanks to legislation Gov. Mitch Daniels signed Thursday. The changes in the formula by which farmland is assessed take effect with 2011 tax bills and are expected to provide more than $75 million in tax relief to Indiana farmers over the next few years, said Greens Fork farmer Luke Bowman, public relations coordinator for Indiana Farm Bureau in Wayne and Fayette counties.
